Micro:bit

 

This is my Micro: bit micro bits are a thing and you code it something to do on a website. this video is what I made it's a coin flip game the skull is the head and the square is a tail it was a little bit hard to do and I had to do it for maths with Mr Kanine you can use tutorials to make games and lots of other stuff then you plug in the micro bit and then download the project and then drag the file into a file called MICRO BIT then the back of the micro bit will flash that means its downloading then your done.

Magic Show

 

Today We had some visitors that came to our school they showed us magic one was called El Gregoe. They made birds come out of nowhere he showed us lots of tricks that were so cool and weird. He made someone fly he got words out of a book when they weren't even in there. I learnt that the tricks were an illusion and they were strange. I found out that he learnt magic from his grandad. Some people got to volunteer for magic and they got something like slapbands, pencil cases, and a drink bottle. THey showed us values like Respect, Responsible, Reslinience, caring and more.  Have you ever seen a magic show before? 

Eggsperment Fun

Yesterday we did a science eggsperment we put three eggs in a jar of white vinegar and mould vinegar and left them there for a couple days. Then we got them out and got a big ruler and measure how high we dropped it from. We dropped one at 60cm and it smashed, We got another one and dropped it from 63cm and it broke into pieces. We put them inside and looked at them they were squishy.

Water Science

 

On Tuesday the 9th of August, we went to a stream called Crawl-Fish-Creek. The first thing we did was we measured the water depth to see how deep it was. After that, we measured the water width to see how long it was. Then we measured the water flow by putting an orange in the water. Then we see the temperature of the water by getting an ice cream container and filling it up with water, then putting a thermometer in the water it was 9.1 degrees. After we looked for bugs, we had an ice cream container and pulling out a rock then you put your container in the way and it will come in, then we looked at it using a magnifying glass and looked at what it was. Then we went back to school.

Energy Experiment

Yesterday we made some energy with water, solar and wind. First, we went outside and set up a machine with a solar panel then we pointed it at north and 45 degrees up. Then we got some energy. Then we changed it to a wind fan then we all had a go trying to blow it and make it move. Lastly, we went over to a tap and put in the thing and then turned on the tap and the fan was spinning and at one point and busted of and went everywhere. Have you ever tried to make energy before?
   

Science Experment

                                               
Today we did an experiment with water, salt and sodium polyacrylate. We had buddies of 2. First, we put in some sodium polyacrylate. Then we put in a spoon full of water and we did it 37 times then we put salt in and it turned to jelly. I thought it would turn into crystals but it turned into soft stuff and it looked like ice. Have you ever done a science experiment before?

Science Roadshow

On Monday, March 16th year 5 and 6 went to the Hokitika School. We went there to see some science. At one spot there was a big fan witch it was a tornado you put on glasses and stand in front of it and it will blow at you.

Science Expirement

1 week ago we did a science experiment. It involved flowers. we put food colouring in 3 cups of water and put white flowers in the water. We put 6 drops of food colouring in each cup. Then we waited some days then when we came back to school they were a different colour! Here's a slide all about the experiment.
