Energy Experiment

Yesterday we made some energy with water, solar and wind. First, we went outside and set up a machine with a solar panel then we pointed it at north and 45 degrees up. Then we got some energy. Then we changed it to a wind fan then we all had a go trying to blow it and make it move. Lastly, we went over to a tap and put in the thing and then turned on the tap and the fan was spinning and at one point and busted of and went everywhere. Have you ever tried to make energy before?

  1. Kia ora Jack,
Well done on creating this blogpost about your science lesson! The photos you have included are fantastic, and I really like how they showcase the experiment that you and your class created. Energy is something that we use everyday, and it is great to see you learning about some of the different ways it is created. Water, solar and wind are some of the ways we can get energy, and seeing the small scale project your class created to learn about these energy sources is amazing!
You mentioned in your blogpost how you first set up a machine with solar panels to face north at a 45 degree angle upwards.
How did you know which way was north, and how did you measure the correct angle?
You also mentioned how you got some energy from doing this. How long did it take for the solar panels to start powering the fan?
It would be awesome if you could reply to this comment and let me know!
Blowing on the fan to make it move sounds like a lot of fun, however I am curious to learn how much power you got from doing this.
What were you able to power from blowing on the fan?
How fast did you have the tap running when you were testing the energy from water?
Was the tap running a long time before the fan started moving, or did it move straight away?
Overall it sounds like you had a fantastic science lesson!
    Keep blogging!
    Nga mihi
